Two major Jewish-content films were nominated for Best Picture at the 2009 Academy Awards:  The Coen Brothers' A Serious Man and Quentin Tarantino'sInglourious Basterds. In this session we will compare, contrast, and discuss how they inadvertently reveal a stark divide in the media's approach to religion both in their production, the content on screen, and their greater place in Jewish cinema.
