As the Director of Educational Outreach at the Holocaust Documentation and Education Center for 26 years, Merle Saferstein worked closely with hundreds of Holocaust survivors helping them to pass along their Legacy of Remembrance. In doing so, she came to understand the importance of learning life lessons from others. Saferstein teaches a course entitled Living and Leaving One’s Legacy. She has trained hospice staffs and volunteers in South Florida, showing them ways in which to help patients leave their legacies and also has worked closely with patients doing sacred legacy work. Saferstein is an extensive journal writer and the author of Room 732, a B.R.A.G. Medallion Honoree. Her article on legacy was published on the front page of the Huffington Post.
